EIRING majunya bidang pariwisata di Gunungkidul, ternyata masih menyisakan pekerjaan rumah besar bagi pemangku kekuasaan kabupaten terluas se Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta ini. Di sudut-sudut daerah masih ditemukan potret kemiskinan warga kabupaten yang mengangkat slogan Gunungkidul Handayani.

Wajah kemiskinan di Gunungkidul ini bisa tergambar dari kehidupan yang dialami oleh Mbah Kamiyem (78), warga Dusun Plalar, Desa Umbulrejo, Ponjong. Nenek yang hidup sebatang kara ini tinggal di gubug reot di atas tanah milik warga.

Kondisi rumah yang sudah ditinggali selama 18 tahun ini pun jauh dari kata layak, berupa gubug reot berukuran 2×3 meter. Dindingnya terbuat dari bambu dan gedek( anyaman bambu) yang sudah berlubang di sana sini. Lantainya pun hanya berupa tanah serta tidak memiliki listrik untuk penerangan di malam hari.

Dalam gubug pun hanya ada dua tempat tidur yang terbuat dari bambu serta kasur lantai pemberian orang.Tidak ada perkakas yang lengkap, hanya ada tungku yang berdekatan dengan tempat tidur. Sementara untuk memasak, Kamiyem mendapatkan bantuan dari donatur berupa wajan dan ketel.

Di dalam rumahnya tersebut, Kamiyem sudah 18 tahun menahan dinginnya angin malam serta air hujan yang menetes karena banyak genting yang berlubang. Bahkan kadang saat hujan deras, dia terpaksa harus tidur sambil duduk karena tempat tidurnya basah terkena air hujan.

Beruntung, beberapa waktu yang lalu, warga yang prihatin dengan kondisi Kamiyem secara bergotong royong memperbaiki gubug reotnya. “Kulo mpun 18 tahun tinggal ten mriki. Kamiyem mengaku, sebelum tinggal di rumah reot ini, dirinya bekerja sebagai buruh tani di Kalimantan. Setelah hampir 15 tahun merantau, akhirnya kembali ke tanah kelahiran. Namun karena kedua orangtuanya sudah meninggal, dirinya tidak lagi memiliki rumah.

Warga yang kasihan dengan nasih yang dialami oleh Kamiyem, akhirnya membangunkan gubug di tanah milik warga. Sementara untuk memenuhi kebutuhan sehari-hari, Kamiyen selama belasan tahun bekerja sebagai buruh serabutan.

Kadang diminta oleh warga untuk membantu menyiangi rumput atau mencangkul. Hasil dari kerja serabutan itu kemudian dia belikan kebutuhan sehari-hari. Karena kondisi yang sudah cukup tua dan mata yang mulai rabun, saat ini Kamiyem mulai mengurangi aktifitas membantu warga berkebun. Untuk bertahan hidup, dia sering mendapatkan bantuan dari warga lainnya.
